Settings for the CyberGhost macOS app are divided into account and general settings and a possibility to check your VPN connection:
My Account
Here your account details, such as user name, email address, plan, and run-time, are displayed. You can also logout from the current account and login to a different one, or open your online account management in a browser window.
- Username: Shows the current active account name, for trial version users it's the mail address used when registering. You can change your user name at any time in your online account management.
- Email: Your email address as entered when registering, resp. your email address as entered in your online account management. This address might come in handy, if you ever need to restore your account, e. g. after a loss of credentials.
- Plan: Your current type of subscription.
- Active devices: Amount of active devices. Depending on your subscription you can use your plan with different numbers of devices at the same time. To remove or add a device, please visit your online account management.
- Renews on: The date your current subscription starts a new period.
- Manage my account: Loads the online account management page into your default browser. Account management might be necessary to e. g. activate or deactivate a device slot.
- Log-out: Here you log out from the current active account. The app switches to the start page, where you can log-in again.
Settings
The 'General' section allows you to modify the basic behavior of the application:
- Automatically check for updates / check now: Self explanatory
- Run at system startup: Activates CyberGhost VPN automatically when the operating system starts. Note: The start of the program is NOT synonymous of being anonymized. If you want to start the app automatically AND want to activate a connection as soon as CyberGhost starts, then you also have to activate the 'Startup' option in the 'Smart Rules' section.
Connection Checker
The Connection Checker is a tool to run a quick test on your VPN connection (in case you have problems reaching CyberGhost for example). It will provide a check on your Internet connection in general, if the log-in servers are reachable and if the CyberGhost API can be accessed.
