Does ranked mode keep throwing Diamond IIIs at you? Are you constantly matched with noobs in competitive mode? You wish you could play with your friends, but they’re overseas playing on a different server.
Unfortunately, Riot Games doesn’t give you the option to change your server region manually. To do that, you need a VPN for Valorant.
A VPN masks your IP address and replaces it with another. This way, websites think you’re connecting from another location in the world. CyberGhost VPN’s extensive global server network makes it easy to play Valorant in another region.
Read on further to find out how you can play Valorant in different regions with the best VPN on the market.
How to Play Valorant in a Different Region in 3 Quick Steps
To change your region in Valorant you’ll need a VPN for Valorant. A VPN is short for “virtual private network”. It hides your IP address and replaces it with another. With a good VPN service, websites and services will think you’re somewhere else in the world, and this makes it a perfect tool to change your Valorant region.
- Subscribe to CyberGhost VPN. It’s fast and easy!
- Connect to any gaming server.
- Log into your Riot account and start playing Valorant!
How to Make a Valorant Account in a Different Region
The Valorant accounts you create are region-locked. This means Riot limits the servers you can play on based on your IP address. Your account is permanently tied to the location you created your account in. If you were in a European country when you created your account, you can only play Valorant matches on EU servers.
Despite Riot promising fans an option to manually change servers, accounts are still region-locked. If you permanently relocate to another region, you’ll need to contact Valorant support and have them change your account’s region of residence.
Your region of residence determines your shard, which in turn dictates the server regions you can play on. If you want to play with your friends overseas, you’ll need to create a new Valorant account.
Don’t worry. It’s free! Here’s what you need to do:
- Connect to a CyberGhost VPN server in the region you want to play
- Go to Riot’s page
- Create a new account
You can connect to a North American VPN server and create your new Riot account. That way, you can play on a NA Valorant server with your friends. This account is permanently geo-locked, so you don’t need to connect to the same server or country every time you want to play.
How to Play Valorant in a Different Region
Now you’re ready to get into the game. Let’s say you’re an EU player and you want to play on an NA server. Here’s what you need to do.
- Get CyberGhost VPN
- Connect to a country server in the region you want.
- Create a new Valorant account.
- Log into Valorant with your newly-created account.
- Start playing Valorant!
Get in the game!
That’s all it takes to change your region in Valorant.
You can also log in with your other account and change VPN servers to switch between regions freely.
How to Check Valorant Server Status
Stumbled into a Valorant error like this one?

Error 43 is the most common Valorant issue you’re likely to run into. The problem is that it’s not very clear what it means, or what you should do if you run into it. Let’s look at a few possibilities.
A Simple Connection Error
Like the error message says, it might just be a small hiccup that you can easily solve by restarting your client. Simply close Valorant and open it again, or press the ol’ reliable Alt and F4 simultaneously. If that still doesn’t work, some players report running Valorant as administrator fixes the issue.
Riot Servers Are Down or Under Maintenance
Riot sends notifications to players in the client for any upcoming maintenance time. If you missed the notification or accidentally closed it, check Riot’s server status page. Go to the dedicated page, select Valorant, then choose your region and language. You’ll see in-progress maintenance and downtime, as well as recently closed notifications. Times are displayed in a 24-hour format.
Sometimes, Riot’s servers run into issues and don’t update in time. In cases like these, you can use third-party services like DownDetector to check if there are any problems with Valorant’s servers. DownDetector often bases its status on individual reports so take the information with a grain of salt.
Can You Play Valorant on Mac?
Riot didn’t release a Valorant version for Mac. The only way to play Valorant is by installing Windows on your Mac.
You can use various tools to run Windows on Mac but not all will let you play Valorant. This is because of Riot’s anti-cheat software, Vanguard. Vanguard has a history of causing issues, and environments like virtual Windows machines don’t usually support it. The best tool to use for Valorant is Boot Camp.
Boot Camp is a utility tool for macOS that lets you partition your Mac hard drive. It’s free and safe to use. Here’s what you need to do:
- Have a Windows 10 ISO file prepared.
- Go to Utilities > Boot Camp Assistant.
- Click Continue.
- Select Choose and select your Windows 10 ISO file
- Click Open.
- Set the size of your Windows partition. You’ll need at least 100 GB of space to play Valorant.
- Click Install and confirm the installation with your Mac admin password.
Let the installation process finish. Your Mac might reboot several times. This will work for the following Mac devices:
-
-
-
-
- MacBook 2015 or later.
- MacBook Air/Pro 2012 or later.
- Mac mini 2012 or later.
- iMac 2012 or later.
- iMac Pro (all models).
- Mac Pro 2013 or later.
-
-
-
You can switch between your macOS and Windows 10 operating systems by going to the Apple menu, selecting System Preferences > Startup Disk. To go back to your macOS, select the Windows button in the lower right corner and click on Restart in macOS.
If partitioning your Mac doesn’t appeal to you, you can run a virtual Windows machine with Parallels. Parallels has a 14-day free trial, so you can test it out. Keep in mind that this option is more likely to lead to issues. Valorant’s anti-cheating software, Vanguard, can block virtual machine software with no warning. Virtual machines can also cause your Mac to overheat.
Here’s how to use Parallels:
- Download Parallels’ free trial version.
- Run the .dmg file, and follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.
- Open Parallels and select Install Windows.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Afterwards, go to Riot’s page and download Valorant. To keep playing Valorant with Parallels, you’ll need a subscription. The price ranges from $99.99 to $149.99 per year, depending on the subscription you choose.

Do you experience considerably more lag in the evenings? It could be because your internet service provider (ISP) slows down your connection when you play online multiplayer games. 🕹️ Top-Notch Data Encryption
We know just how hard you worked for your rank. It’d be a tragedy if some cyberpunk got their hands on your account and sold it. CyberGhost VPN will keep all cybercrooks at bay. We use unbreakable 256-bit AES encryption to keep your online data safe and secure from all account harvesting attempts.
🕹️ Full DDoS Protection
Valorant isn’t safe from trolls and cyberattacks. Many players were targets of DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks. DDoS attacks happen when people target your IP address and flood it with fake traffic requests. That causes your connection to drop and kick you out of the game. CyberGhost VPN hides your IP address and replaces it with one from our system. That way, no one can see your real IP and target you with DDoS attacks.
Get the Best Gaming VPN!

Riot blocked a lot of cyberghost VPN… Either For Valorant or League. Tried with a lot of different servers. Still get the same error. Tried launching the riot client first after doesn’t change anything. The servers are blocked too directly on their website so impossible to create an EU account for example connected to cyberghost. Would be nice to look into it and be possible to
