Why We Are Sunsetting the CyberGhost Private Browser Product
Here at CyberGhost VPN, online privacy is at the core of everything we do. We’re committed to building the best tools to help you secure your data, and we protect the digital identity of millions of Ghosties worldwide.
Since we launched our free Private Browser product, the world has changed. The technology landscape, and the types of threats we face on a day-to-day basis are almost unrecognizable. It is our responsibility to constantly adapt our security suite—making sure we deliver the services our Ghosties want and need.
That is why, as of March 28th 2024, we will no longer be supporting the CyberGhost Private Browser product, removing any download options, and recommending that any remaining users move over to an alternative service. This decision means we can fight even harder for your online privacy and security rights—delivering a premium VPN service that can withstand emerging digital threats..
To all past users of our Private Browser product, we thank you for being early adopters and giving CyberGhost Private Browser a try.
What This Means for You:
- CyberGhost’s Private Browser product will no longer be supported or updated.
- You will no longer be able to download the browser installer from your online account or App Store.
- We strongly recommend switching to an alternative privacy-friendly browser with strong security settings.
To make the transition smoother, we’ve included step-by-step instructions on how to export your bookmarks and passwords below.
Export Your Bookmarks and Passwords
You can seamlessly switch to another browser if you export your settings.
Here’s how you can export your bookmarks from CyberGhost’s Private Browser product:
- Open the CyberGhost Private Browser.
- Click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner.
- Go to Bookmarks.
- Select Bookmark manager.
- Click the three-dot icon to the right of the search bar.
- Select Export Bookmarks.
Next up, you can export your passwords. Here’s how:
- Open the CyberGhost Private Browser.
- Click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Autofill and passwords.
- Select Settings.
- Select Download File.
- Enter your device’s password to export the passwords.
- Save the file.
We do not recommend storing passwords in a browser as it’s not secure. It’s better if you opt for a reliable password manager for added security.

What’s Next for CyberGhost VPN
While we’re saying goodbye to our Private Browser product, we’re not slowing down on our commitment to providing you with the best VPN service possible. In 2023, we started improving our reach and coverage. We expanded our VPN server network to 100 countries. We expanded our dedicated IP offering to 21 locations.
And now we’re doubling down on our efforts to improve CyberGhost VPN. Besides providing regular app updates on all platforms to ensure CyberGhost VPN performs optimally and to the highest security standards, we’re actively working on expanding compatibility. That’s why, in the first half of 2024, we’re focusing our attention on developing an Apple TV app.
In addition to that, we’re also working to improve existing features. We are currently revamping our split-tunneling feature to provide you with greater control and flexibility over your VPN usage. Split tunneling is a feature that allows you to choose which apps you want to route through the VPN tunnel.
We’re also exploring other areas to improve, and your feedback has been invaluable to us. We’re dedicated to ensuring CyberGhost VPN remains the highly-secure, fast, and reliable solution for all your online needs. Stay tuned for further updates!
